Evidence of Program's Success

In 2017, Spring 9Health Fairs were held at 104 sites throughout the states of Colorado and Nebraska, and 14 Health Fair sites were hosted in the fall for a total of 118 total sites in 2017. Also included are results from closed fairs which include Campus Crusade, corporate fairs and 9HF/9NEWS blood draws. 50,442 individuals took part in all fairs, with the greatest participation occurring during the traditional 9-day campaign, April 22 through April 30th. 250 children took part in our 14 fall family fairs. Participants took advantage of our 35 free and low-cost health screenings and 13 free children's screenings. Hepatitis C, Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), and Rheumatoid Arthritis Screenings were offered at select fairs during the spring and fall in Colorado only.

The basic Blood Chemistry Screening provides baseline information on cholesterol, blood glucose, liver, kidneys, thyroid, and more. This is one of the low-cost screenings at our fairs with free vouchers provided to the most underserved populations. In 2017, 1,108 were used at the Spring Fairs (2253 were distributed) and 363 were used (611 distributed) in the fall for a total voucher usage of 1,471 at a dollar value $51,485. In the spring of 2018, we distributed 565 A1c blood sugar screening vouchers to Health Fair Site Leaders and the Community Veterans Coalition in Conifer. 312 were returned, valued at $9,360.
