Testimonials

Flagship Festival:

I loved the choice of films tonight. I thought it was a good mixture of adventure, life stories, and humor. I was happy to see interviews with the filmmakers too. We look forward to tomorrow night and the rest of the festival!  - Gavin Dahl

Loved the first night of films! Nice to see that COVID has not slowed the creative process. Heartwarming stories of individuals and the outdoors, a much-needed break from the worries of the current day. - Maret Jessen

In The Classroom:

Oh my gosh, it's been so awesome! The kids are super engaged, and we've been talking about documentary techniques in between films. Since this will be part of our curriculum in the years to come, I was hoping we could conduct a virtual Q and A with a director. I think the kids would love that opportunity! Thanks again for the opportunity to connect and view the films. We are fortunate to be part of such a wonderful community. - Paige Hahn

On The Road:

Seward, AK is a unique community as it is but 5point Film brought something different. The night was filled with people young and old, well-known faces of the community as well as people I did not know. That is special; to be a part of something that attracts a diverse group. I think my biggest applause goes to the diversity of age within the film set and it seemed as if there was a film for each stage of life. Again, diversity is powerful - this film set was beyond successful at tying innocence and youth to the strands of wisdom and experience. I was truly impressed- flooded with emotion and inspired.  - Tess Skoe

Mission

5Point Adventure Film Festival's mission is to inspire and educate through film. We share meaningful adventure stories that encourage individuals and communities to live by our 5 points: Purpose, Respect, Commitment, Humility & Balance.

Over the last 16 years, 5Point Film has become a meeting point for the adventure community - a place where collaborations are born, connections flourish, and advocacy thrives.

Through the celebration of adventure film, we bring together diverse storytellers, activists, creatives, and industry icons that share a belief in our central mission: to foster community, inspire advocacy, and promote cultural understanding through film.

Background Statement

Our Annual Flagship Festival, going into its 17th year, showcases thoughtfully curated film programs intertwined with surprise guests, artistic performances, and community events. We screen over 60 films during the festival and host dozens of filmmakers, athletes, and film subjects from around the world, creating an inclusive gathering over a 4 day event in Carbondale, CO. In addition to film programs, the Flagship Festival also includes live recordings of podcasts, panel discussions, musical performances, book signings, comedians, and family activities.

The Dream Project, one of our education initiatives, continues to support and believe in young people and the diversity of the projects they choose to pursue. The program supports ambitious students from the Roaring Fork Valley (Aspen to Parachute) with a grant helping to push and explore their personal boundaries while living their own best adventure. Encouraging students to venture outside of their comfort zone inspires empathy and balance, which is crucial for young members of society who may one day turn into community leaders. 5Point is honored to be the conduit which directs financial support to these talented, driven students. With your support, we hope to grow this program and our educational initiatives in 2024.
