Your support sparks hope.
When you make a gift to 5280 Recovery High School, you set off a spark that can ignite a student’s recovery journey. Teens struggling with substance use or self-destructive behaviors often can’t see a path to a brighter future. With your help, 5280 can provide the resources they need to get started, the education they need to succeed, and the unconditional love they need to persevere along the way. Your gift is the spark that will illuminate a student’s path to a dazzling future.
Colorado faces a critical challenge in adolescent substance use and mental health.
Our state's youth overdose death rate is 60% above the national average, with fentanyl involved in 75% of these tragic losses. In the Denver metro region, these rates soar to three times higher than rural areas. Yet, fewer than 10% of youth who need it are able to access treatment for substance use.
We're here because Colorado's kids deserve more.
5280 Recovery High School is the largest recovery high school in the nation, and the only such school in the state. We serve students aged 14-20 who are navigating substance use, mental health challenges, and co-occurring disorders. We seamlessly integrate academics and recovery into every aspect of our one-of-a-kind school. Our recovery coaches and licensed addiction counselor offer one-on-one and group recovery support to students every single day, while our school counselor, social worker, counseling manager, and special education team ensure that all students have access to whatever supports they need to thrive. And throughout, students are deeply engaged in project-based learning, developing real-world skills that are building blocks for future success.
YOU can make a tremendous difference in our students' lives.
As a charter school authorized by Denver Public Schools, about half of our budget comes from state funds based on the number of students we serve. But the other half, which is what makes our critical and comprehensive care model possible, comes from community support. It comes from government and private grants, and from people just like you.
Your donation allows us to provide life-changing recovery and wellness support that is customized to meet each student's unique needs; keep class sizes small; provide meaningful academic and social experiences; and build a strong, inclusive recovery community where all students have the opportunity and resources to thrive.
Through authentic academic experiences and a culture of holistic wellness embedded in a strong diverse community, 5280 High School prepares students living in recovery for success in college, their future career, and anything life throws at them.
5280 Recovery High School, founded in 2018, serves students in recovery from substance use, self-harm, disordered eating, and other self-destructive behaviors. As a public charter school, we are free to attend. We also provide free transportation to students from across the Denver metro area. We serve as many as 120 or more students every school year, with a diverse array of backgrounds and identities.
5280 seeks health and educational equity for students who find their recovery needs unmet by traditional educational environments. We provide holistic programs and services that are essential for our students to develop a strong foundation for a life in recovery.
