$5,665 goal

The Tread of Pioneers Museum has an Ediphone dictating machine and associated wax cylinders used for early sound recording (the machines were created from 1888-early 1950s). Machines such as ours were frequently used in business offices, police stations, and hospitals to record meetings and events. We do not know the origins of our Ediphone, nor of the sound recordings captured on this obsolete media.
Please help us discover what local historical sound treasures may be contained on these historic wax cylinders by donating to our "Mystery of the Wax Cylinders" campaign.
The task of transferring these wax cylinders into usable sound files is extensive. The Northeast Document Conservation Center is ready to use their state-of-the-art 3D imaging software and experts to convert scanned images of the cylinders into sound files. Our campaign goal is for the full value that NEDCC has quoted us for the work = $5,665. Thank you for your support!
