Fort Collins Area Swim Team (FAST)

Background Statement

Fort Collins Area Swim Team (FAST) was founded in 1987 to provide the youth of Fort Collins and surrounding communities a fun and safe place to enjoy the sport of swimming. FAST’s first practice was held the day Eldora Pool and Ice Center first opened and the team has remained a constant fixture in the community since then. Since its inception, FAST has grown to over 450 members ranging in ages from 6-90 years old. FAST supports young swimmers of all abilities, including beginners taking their first strokes and seasoned swimmers preparing to take their next steps as Collegiate athletes. FAST offers swimming opportunities for adults as well. Adult athletes train with our Masters program year round, as well as participate in Masters swimming events around the world. Athletes from FAST have gone on to represent the United States internationally as members of the USA Swimming National Team, competed at Masters Nationals, earned swimming scholarships at every level of Collegiate swimming, and have placed amongst the best in the state at local meets. Our mission statement, “World Class Character Through Excellence in Swimming” is a guiding charge for our decision making by our volunteer, parent-led Board of Directors. We believe that valuable life lessons can be taught through sport and that each individual should be encouraged and coached to do their very best.
