Columbine Campaign

Founded on compassion, La Plata County Humane Society provides vital shelter for pets in need and tirelessly rescues those in distress. Our ultimate goal is to find loving and patient homes for every animal in our care, giving them a second chance at happiness.

Located in Durango, Colorado, serving La Plata County, our dedicated team of 50 staff members and over 300 passionate volunteers make it possible for us to assist more than 6,000 pets a year. This incredible effort is supported by the generosity of our community, whose contributions fuel our life-saving programs and help prevent pet overpopulation.

As an open-admission shelter, we embrace every pet that comes through our doors, regardless of their circumstances. This commitment ensures that no vulnerable pets in our local community are turned away, providing safe shelter and a pathway to a brighter future, filled with love and care.
