Haley's Fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters

For more than four years, I’ve had the privilege of working at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado, and even though my role is behind the scenes, I see the impact of this mission every single day. I may not spend most of my time directly with youth, but I get to support the systems, staff, and volunteers who make life-changing mentoring relationships possible. Watching everything come together—from program teams to volunteers to supporters—has shown me just how powerful this work truly is.

One of the unique parts of being in an administrative and events role is that I get a front-row seat to the broader picture: the excitement of our community at events, the dedication of our mentors, the gratitude from families, and the incredible commitment of our staff. I see how much care goes into every match, training, outreach effort, and moment of support offered to young people across Colorado. Even though I’m supporting this mission from a different angle, I feel personally connected to the growth and transformation that mentoring creates.

Colorado Gives Day is one of the most important days of the year for us. It’s a moment when our community comes together to support the causes that strengthen Colorado, and for Big Brothers Big Sisters, that means ensuring young people have access to caring, consistent, empowering mentors. Your donation helps us recruit volunteers, support match relationships, expand programming, and build the strong infrastructure that makes our mission possible. None of this work happens without community support.

Over the past four years, I’ve seen how mentoring changes lives—sometimes quietly, sometimes dramatically, but always meaningfully. I’ve heard stories from mentors who feel transformed by the experience, and from families who share how much brighter and more confident their children have become. I’ve watched our team work tirelessly to create the right match at the right time. And at our events, I’ve met supporters who deeply believe in what we do and who inspire me to keep pushing forward.

In my role, I get to help create the moments that bring people together around this mission—celebrations, fundraisers, volunteer gatherings, and community events that showcase the heart of our organization. I’ve learned that supporting youth doesn’t always happen in direct service; sometimes it happens in planning a successful event, coordinating logistics, organizing information, and helping the people on the front lines do their jobs well. I’m proud to contribute in my own way to the stability, visibility, and success of an organization I care deeply about.
