The Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is a 5-year academic, employment and savings incentive program designed to help low-income families gain education, money management and career skills to improve their family’s financial situation and move toward self-sufficiency.

The FSS program helps participants set training and educational goals that will lead to better employment opportunities. Participants receive personal support and tailored guidance through their work with the FSS support specialists. Support specialists assist in the creation of a holistic plan that will lead participants to reduced reliance on public assistance. Support specialists address family, health, personal, financial and educational challenges which are key to troubleshoot while on the path to goal achievement.

The holidays can be a financially difficult and stressful time for our participants, and being matched with a Holiday Gift Sponsor makes a tremendous difference in the lives of FSS families in need. Your generosity during the holidays is so appreciated by our hard-working FSS parents. There are two ways to support families:

1. Donate gift cards

You can choose to be matched with a specific family and purchase gift cards form their personalized wish list ($50 per family member) so that they can purchase gifts for their children during the holiday season.

If you prefer, a general gift card donation is always appreciated and can be used to help address basic needs such as food or clothing throughout the year.

2. Monetary Donation

FSS can also accept monetary donations from donors who would like to help an FSS participant with a specific expense, or for general assistance for families as needs arise. Any donations are greatly appreciated, and no amount is too small. Donations not used for the holidays are used to help meet the critical and emergent needs of families and individuals throughout the year.

  • $5,600 in gift card donations
  • $4,100 in monetary donations
