Homegrown food within reach.

The Fresh Food Connect free mobile app connects gardeners directly to a local hunger relief organization, simplifying the donation process and supporting your community.

The Need

Each year, roughly 1 in 7 people in the U.S. experiences food insecurity, yet 40% of our food is wasted.

At the same time, 1 in 3 households grows food at home or in community gardens.

Our Solution

The Fresh Food Connect mobile app bridges this gap. We connect home and community gardeners with nearby hunger relief organizations, turning garden abundance into community nourishment. We also provide community connections and marketing support to hunger relief partners, supporting the gardener recruitment process. In 2024 over 5,000 gardeners registered in the app, and over 85,000 pounds of produce was donated to 54 hunger relief organizations in 17 states.

“This summer, our food pantry received an incredible assortment of fresh produce. It was such a gift to see our community members light up when they saw items like zucchini, tomatoes, and herbs— things they rarely expect at a food pantry. One family told us it was the first time in months they’d been able to cook a fresh, healthy meal together.

"These donations don’t just provide nourishment— they bring dignity and joy to those we serve. Thank you for helping make this possible!”

  Our Gardeners

“I love knowing that the extra zucchini and tomatoes from my garden are helping families in my own community. Fresh Food Connect makes it so easy to give back — it’s something small that adds up to something big.”
- Megan, Fresh Food Connect Gardener

Our impact beyond the numbers:

  • Connection, resources and support for thousands of new and seasoned Colorado gardeners
  • Good food stays out of landfills, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and offsetting costs for families and individuals in need

  • A community-based food system, where neighbors support each other, and where food in local pantries and in free, community markets is nutritious, and culturally relevant

Together, we’re building a more connected, sustainable, and equitable food future — one garden at a time.
