Won't you join me in supporting Reach Out and Read Colorado this Colorado Gives Day?

Your donation will help support Reach Out and Read Colorado as we partner with pediatricians throughout the state to 'prescribe' high quality books and provide guidance for parents/caregivers at more than 290,000 well-child visits this year.

Reach Out and Read Colorado’s program not only provides underserved families with books to build home libraries, but it also promotes learning and skill building for both parents and children. The simple act of unplugging and reading a book together is proven to increase brain and language development, create strong parent-child connections, and improve kindergarten readiness— And when a child is set up for success from an early age, the possibilities and opportunities are endless!

I am so very proud to be on the staff at Reach Out and Read Colorado. Our cause is so important and critical to children throughout the state of Colorado. It's especially important to those families and children who cannot afford to purchase books for their children. Our clinics love our program and are so excited to give out books at every well child visit.

There's nothing more exciting than reading a book. Reading expands the imagination and can carry you off to far away exciting and exciting adventures.  Reading expands the mind and allows you to believe that anything is possible.

I remember when I first read "The Cat in the Hat" - WOW - It opened me up to an entirely different world. It certainly made an impact on me as I still remember it to this day. A few years after "The Cat in the Hat" I read every single Nancy Drew mystery book and loved it. Can you remember your favorite book when you were young?

My son and daughter-in-law read to their children every night. In fact, when my eldest granddaughter attended Pre-K, she read one of her favorite books to her classmates, of course she was reading by memory; however; it goes to show just how important reading is. Her teacher was astounded by this!

My youngest granddaughter, pictured here, clearly loves reading her books. She pulls all the books from the shelves and loves leafing through the pictures.

Your donation is an investment to the young minds in Colorado! Please consider a donation to Reach Out and Read Colorado.

Thank you,

Kathie King
