Your gift of $10/month will feed homeless and struggling families.

$60,000 goal

The Action Center needs your help to support our very special food rescue partnership with Elephant Talk, a metro-area non-profit.

With your help we can "rescue" literally tons of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and dairy products that local grocers might otherwise discard. This nutritious food can then go out through the Action Center food pantry to Jefferson County families who are homeless or struggling to make ends meet.

Every dollar raised through this special e-campaign, will underwrite the delivery of 10+ pounds of food -- far more than the Action Center can purchase with the same dollar.

Consider a gift of $10/month to ensure the delivery of 100+ pounds of fresh, nutritious food to struggling families right here in Jefferson County. Or if you would prefer to make a one-time gift at any level, that is greatly appreciated as well!

Our goal for this campaign is to have 500 people support this initiative for one year. Thank you for your support!

Here's a story of just one of the client served by the Action Center's food pantry with the help of Elephant Talk:

Tim and Amy Watson's world turned upside down six months ago when Amy and their two eldest girls were in a car accident. The girls were not hurt badly, but Amy was rushed to the hospital with a head injury. With a mountain of medical bills, the loss of their only vehicle and the loss of Amy's wages for several months, they quickly became a family in crisis.

"It was really hard to ask for help," Amy said. She never dreamed their family would be in this position.

The Watsons got food several times from the Action Center over the last few months. Tim said it was an enormous weight off of his shoulders knowing that the girls and Amy would have healthy food to help them heal.

Life is looking a little brighter now for Tim and Amy. Tim's uncle was able to lend them a car and Amy has gone back to work now that she's feeling stronger.

Like so many of our clients, short-term food support made a big difference to the Watson's. The fresh vegetables, fruit, dairy and meat we were able to provide them came directly through the Elephant Talk network from our local grocers.
