Charity Partner Project Safeguard

I have had the honor of serving on the board of Project Safeguard since spring of 2023.  I have lived experience with intimate partner violence and know firsthand how confusing, isolating, and devastating it can be.  In 2018, it left me as just a shell of myself and left my life in ruins.  Trying to navigate the legal process of filing for a dissolution of marriage was overwhelming, especially on top of the emotions, fear, and turmoil of leaving an abusive relationship.  No one should have to do that alone!  That is why Project Safeguard is so important to me and to so many others in the community.  Survivors need someone in their corner who believes them, who educates them, and who advocates for them every step of the way as they seek justice.  Survivors face so many obstacles seeking a path of safety and peace, and Project Safeguard removes the obstacle of trying to understand and walk through the civil legal system alone.  Whether someone needs to learn how to make a safety plan, learn what their rights are, or learn how to fill out and file necessary paperwork with the courts, Project Safeguard has trauma-informed advocates waiting to help.  I believe that nothing should get in the way of a survivor seeking justice, especially not the legal system.  I strongly believe in the vision of Project Safeguard: a community where survivor-driven justice is accessible to ALL people who have experienced gender-based violence.
