In Colorado, Hispanic youth face some of the highest barriers to mental health access and educational opportunity in the state. At the same time, millions of plastic bottle caps slip through the cracks of conventional recycling every year — too small for the machines, too harmful to ignore — ending up in our rivers, landfills and oceans.

Most organizations tackle these crises separately. UNCAPPED is the first movement to solve both at once.

What Is UNCAPPED?**

UNCAPPED is a circular economy movement powered by Elevate for Change — a Colorado-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit — in partnership with internationally acclaimed Venezuelan eco-muralist Óscar Olivares.

Our mission: intercept plastic bottle caps before they reach our oceans and transform them into permanent public murals, while funding education, mental health and community well-being programs for Colorado's Hispanic community.

This is not a cleanup campaign. This is a replicable model of systemic change — already proven in El Salvador, Italy, and Venezuela, and now launching in Colorado.

Óscar Olivares recently created the tallest bottle cap mural in the world in El Salvador (featured by Euronews and AFP) and Europe's largest plastic cap mural in Crotone, Italy. Now he brings that methodology — and that global credibility — to Denver.

The Story Behind Programa Teresa

Programa Teresa is named after the grandmother of our board member Carlos Moreno. Teresa believed that a community's strength lives in the well-being of its people. In her honor, Carlos created this initiative to ensure that mental health support is never out of reach for those who need it most.

Each cycle, Programa Teresa funds up to 4 free therapy sessions for 40 community members — no cost, no barriers, no exceptions.

Because behind every mural, there is a person who deserves to heal.
