Wild Bear Nature Center is proud to be in its 32nd year of inspiring a "lifelong connection to community and nature through the creative exploration of the outdoors." Eight months ago, our community faced an unimaginable tragedy. On October 9, 2025, a devastating fire destroyed Wild Bear’s interim nature center in downtown Nederland. The loss was profound; the fire took everything including our educational tools, animal ambassadors, exhibits, murals, and gift shop.
But nature keeps growing, and so do we. Just 48 hours after the fire, our dedicated educational team already had second graders out learning in the woods. Our programming has never stopped and with your help during the Give Outdoor Learning campaign, we will build a more resilient future.
How Your Donation Helps
Your 2nd Annual Give Outdoor Learning Campaign in June of 2026 will directly fund:
Our Permanent Home: Completing our new, state-of-the-art, net-zero nature center on the Peak to Peak Highway.
Ongoing Education: Supporting our current programming in temporary locations while building out brand-new exhibits for the future center.
