Our military has been at war since September 11, 2001. It has never been more difficult to be a Veteran or First responder. These heroes put their lives on the line every day. Both professions experience a tremendous amount of trauma. It is easy to see the visual wounds of war and trauma. However, it’s increasingly difficult to see and treat the invisible wounds of trauma. WMRA exist to disrupt the suicide epidemic in both communities whereby 22 vets a day are taking their lives. WMRA believes outdoor therapy and sport are the best modalities to combat PTSD and Trauma. We also know that the number one thing Veterans And Athletes United they exit the service is camaraderie and we offer that naturally through our programs.
WMRA is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to helping veterans and first responders heal from trauma by introducing them to therapeutic outdoor activities. Our goal is to disrupt veteran suicides. WMRA believes you fight PTSD and trauma from a position of strength. We will help build warriors physical, mental and spiritual strength. We recognize the number one thing both veterans and first responders miss when they leave the service is the camaraderie. Therefore, we purposely built our program and adventures around this idea of camaraderie and community.
WMRA started to disrupt the epidemic of suicides in the veteran and first responder community. We believe outdoor therapy and sport is the best modality to combat PTSD and Trauma. We have been taking veterans to Pagosa Springs for over five years and they absolutely love white water rafting, snowmobiling, hiking, fishing, snow shoe, ice fishing, skiing, 4x4ing, (all outdoor CO sports).
