Mission

The purpose of The Connection is to provide a safe environment where teens can prosper and flourish within themselves and their community, improving their sense of self-value, hope, and visible opportunities.

Background Statement

The Connection was founded in January 2010 by its current Executive Director, CJ Andrews. During her ten years of experience in youth ministry, Ms. Andrews worked with many high school students from a wide variety of backgrounds. Encountering students from unstable or unsupportive families, under-privileged economic situations or simply without adequate coping skills, Andrews recognized the need for a safe environment and a supportive community in which these young people could begin to utilize their potential. It was out of these experiences that The Connection was born.

The Connection Youth Center opened in February 2011. In August of that same year, The Connection moved onto the grounds of the Broomfield United Methodist Church, and from that site over 36,000 students have walked through its doors to make use of its services.

The Connection provides a context for students to explore, research, and discover. Staff and volunteers work with students to succeed academically and explore interests that can lead to post-secondary vocations or education. During the spring 2014 semester, the after school and mentoring programs saw a 20% increase in students feeling positive about their future.
