The Mountain Hug Project

At The Mountain Hug Project quilts represent warmth, comfort, and compassion. Our handmade quilted items are generously donated by talented quilters from the Estes Park community. These gifts provide support and encouragement to local newborns, vulnerable children, isolated seniors, and veterans. Through every stitch, our mission is to ensure each recipient feels seen, valued, and embraced by the community they call home.

The Mountain Hug Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Estes Park, Colorado, connecting local quilters, guilds, and sewing volunteers with those who need comfort when it matters most.

A quilt is more than fabric ... it is a steadying presence in a moment of change.

For a newborn welcomed into the world… For a child entering foster care with nothing of their own… For a senior facing isolation… For a veteran navigating the weight of memory…

A quilt becomes:

  • A source of emotional grounding
  • A personal belonging they can keep
  • A symbol of dignity and care
  • A reminder that their community sees them

Comfort is not small. It is transformative.

Mission

To provide handmade quilted items from local Estes Valley quilters to bring comfort, hugs, and healing to new-born infants, in need or displaced children, isolated elderly, and veterans ensuring every recipient knows they are seen, valued and not forgotten.
