Magpie Art Center: Where Creativity Becomes Community
Magpie Art Center was created with one simple belief: everyone deserves access to creativity.
In Sedalia, that wasn’t possible. Our rural community lacked after-school art classes, creative programs for low-income families, affordable workshops for seniors, and few opportunities for people to build connections, confidence, and emotional well-being through creative expression. People who needed support the most had nowhere to go.
So we built that place
The Magpie Art Center is a welcoming and inclusive space where people of all ages and backgrounds can learn, experiment, express themselves, and feel supported. We offer classes in ceramics, weaving, botanical printing, painting, mixed media, gardening, and more. We partner with nonprofits to bring therapeutic and expressive arts experiences to those who need them. We are creating after-school programs for kids who have never been able to afford art lessons. We design classes for seniors to explore creativity, memory, and connection. And we work to ensure that cost is never a barrier to participation.
Our mission goes beyond teaching techniques. We use art to build emotional resilience, confidence, curiosity, and community.
