More kids than ever are finding opportunities through Challenge Aspen to get outside, challenge themselves, and discover what's possible.
Last year alone, Challenge Aspen served more than 400 youth— including 279 local kids, just like the students the Basalt High School Special Education program, featured in the video below.
Growing Up With Challenge Aspen
“I've learned so much to become independent. I got out of my comfort zone to try skiing, archery, and paddleboarding.”
— Kendra Fernandez, Challenge Aspen participant
For local kids with disabilities, each new adventure is a chance to build skills, confidence, independence, and connection. We want to create more of them.
Challenge Aspen is investing in more year-round opportunities for school-age children—from School Partnership Programs and Inclusion Days to partnerships with the Aspen Valley Ski Club and expanded adaptive Nordic skiing, biking, and hiking, as well as mobile programs like archery. Together with our well-established ski programs, these opportunities are helping us reach more youth throughout the Roaring Fork and Colorado River Valleys.

As participation grows, so does our commitment to making these experiences accessible.
“Challenge Aspen has allowed Max to not just participate alongside his peers in school, but to excel, especially on ski days. It gave him purpose, allowing him to participate in outdoor activities like any other child in the valley.”
— Katie Grange, mother of Max, a lifelong Challenge Aspen participant
Help Us Say “Yes” to What's Next
Creating these opportunities takes specialized equipment, professional instruction, trained volunteers, and donor support.
On Youth Sports Giving Day, your gift has the potential to go even further through matching funds—helping us invest in more opportunities for kids with disabilities to ski, ride, hike, explore, and grow.
Our goal: $100,000.
Help us open more doors to adventure for the next child who says, “I want to try.”
