Carbondale Clay Center enriches lives through the ceramic arts by creating a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together to learn, explore, create, and connect.
We believe clay has the power to build confidence, spark curiosity, strengthen communities, and create meaningful connections. From a child discovering clay for the first time to an established artist developing a professional practice, CCC provides a welcoming space for creativity, learning, and belonging.

Background Statement
Founded in 1997 by local potter Diane Kenney and Managing Director Dan Trautman, Carbondale Clay Center grew from a simple idea: our community needed a place to make things together.
With the help of a small private grant and tremendous community support, CCC purchased and transformed its current building into a working ceramics studio. What began with weekly classes, community outreach, exhibitions, and an artist residency program has grown into a vibrant regional arts organization serving thousands of children and adults each year.
Today, CCC is much more than a ceramics studio. We offer classes and workshops, youth programs, scholarships, community outreach, exhibitions, artist residencies, studio space for professional artists, free community events, and partnerships with nearly 30 local organizations. Our programs reach people across generations and circumstances, including youth, families, seniors, emerging artists, established professionals, and communities who may not otherwise have access to the arts.
As CCC looks toward its next chapter, we are building on nearly three decades of community support to create an even more accessible and dynamic home for ceramic arts in the Roaring Fork Valley.
