Construction Workforce Foundation of Colorado

Colorado is built by people.

Every road we travel, bridge we cross, and water, utility, and transportation system we rely on exists because skilled people built it—and skilled people continue to maintain it.

The Construction Workforce Foundation of Colorado (CWFC) is helping prepare the next generation of people who will build Colorado's future.

CWFC creates pathways into heavy civil construction by connecting people with the education, skills, credentials, employers, and opportunities they need to turn an interest into a career.

Through CWFC, people can:

  • Discover construction careers they may never have considered.
  • Gain hands-on skills through the Civil Construction Academy and pre-apprenticeship training.
  • Earn valuable credentials including OSHA-10, CPR/First Aid, Flagging, Rigging, Stormwater Management, and Traffic Control.
  • Connect directly with employers through hiring events, career navigation, and industry partnerships.
  • Enter Registered Apprenticeship programs where they can continue learning, earning, and advancing.
  • Pursue construction-related education with scholarships supporting students in construction management, engineering, skilled trades, and related fields.

These opportunities open doors for high school students exploring what comes next, adults looking for a new direction, people who are underemployed, and individuals who want a meaningful career without taking on significant college debt.

A construction career can be more than a first job. It can offer increasing skills and wages, long-term advancement, and the ability to build a stable future for an individual and their family.

And the impact reaches far beyond each participant. The people gaining these opportunities today are becoming the workforce that will build and maintain the infrastructure Colorado communities will depend on tomorrow.

When people build careers, they build Colorado.
