The Backdoor Theatre is the only theatre in the mountains West of the Foothills to provide first run movies week in and week out. We have awesome volunteers which help keep our prices low, but we want to provide more - more documentaries, more live theatre, more music. And for that, to expand our programming, we need your help. Mission
The Backdoor Theatre is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a sense of community to the people of the Nederland area in Colorado, with educational family entertainment, arts and humanities programs, and volunteer opportunities on the part of a wide variety of community members for all ages.
Background Statement
On Valentines Day, 2001, a group of Nederland community volunteers and film lovers formed an organization to create a movie theatre in Nederland, CO. A town of 1500 people, with a surrounding community of approximately 15,000 more audience potential, the closest movie theatre was 23 miles away. Also, entertainment options in the town mostly centered around the bar scene, and non-alcohol related entertainment options were few.
Therefore, Ruth Baldwin, Jan Cooper, and Kayla Evans founded the Backdoor Theatre as a service to their community for both children and adults.
