Mission
Since 1962, it has been the mission of The Arc of Adams County to protect, preserve, and promote the human and civil rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively support their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.
Background Statement
The Arc of Adams County is a nonprofit organization and a local chapter of The Arc of the United States, a national organization dedicated to advancing the rights of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our chapter was founded in 1962 by parents who wanted their children with IDD to have access to advocacy, education, and opportunities for inclusion.
Today, we continue that legacy by supporting children and adults with IDD and their families through advocacy, training, outreach, and community partnerships. Our work is guided by a commitment to ensuring that every person has the opportunity to live a full, self-directed life with respect, dignity, and access to the supports they need.
Our Board of Directors is made up of dedicated community volunteers who support our mission and help expand our ability to serve families. As an independently funded chapter, we are able to focus solely on the individuals and families we support.
We remain united in our belief that every person with IDD deserves to be valued, included, and empowered to reach their fullest potential.
