$50,000 Goal

You can help sick and injured pets today by donating to help build a special outdoor walk and potty yard for dogs in our medical ward.

AND your gift will be matched up to $20,000 by a generous HSPPR supporter!

Your kindness today will help build a $50,000 yard that will give dogs undergoing medical treatment some off-leash time out of the kennel to help improve their mental health. It will also have special drainage for disinfection and allow staff to better monitor patients’ healing progress, like Gerty.

Gerty is just one example of the many dogs who would benefit from this new yard. She arrived with severe injuries at only eight weeks old. This itty-bitty, two-pound puppy had a lime-sized laceration on her back, which, due to her size, meant it spanned shoulder-to-shoulder. Gerty’s list of medical issues was long, and she needed individualized treatment for each one.

We see so many dogs and cats that are sick or injured and need extended medical care. You can help make their time with us more comfortable and enriching with a caring donation this Colorado Gives Day!

Will you please give today to help build an outdoor yard for dogs like Gerty undergoing medical treatment?

Your gift by 11:59 p.m. will be matched up to $20,000!

Mission

Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region offers compassionate care to animals, supports safe communities, and provides socially conscious sheltering.

Background Statement

Founded in 1949, Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) is the largest animal welfare group for homeless and abused animals in Colorado. HSPPR is a local, independent nonprofit not affiliated with national organizations such as ASPCA or Humane Society of the United States and relies on donations to fund its work. As an open-admission shelter, no animal is ever turned away. HSPPR staff care for animals in distress, provide medical care for abused and injured animals, reunite lost pets with their owners, find loving homes for homeless animals, investigate animal cruelty, and enforce animal ordinances. We believe pets and people are better together. That’s why we’re here.

HSPPR staff and volunteers care for more than 24,000 homeless animals each year. Animal Law Enforcement responds to more than 40,000 calls for service and investigates nearly 5,000 cruelty and neglect cases.

HSPPR is proud to be a part of the growing socially conscious animal community movement named “Socially Conscious Sheltering.” Together with other animal welfare organizations across the country, HSPPR is dedicated to giving every animal that comes through its doors the care and respect they deserve and the best possible outcome by adhering to Socially Conscious Sheltering tenets.
