Testimonials

August 27. 2013 Denver Police Chief Robert C. White stated in his endorsement letter "I believe that telling the story of law enforcement and the Denver Police Department is a critical vehicle of interaction with the Denver community and an excellent way to preserve and honor the law enforcement legacy of Colorado and its citizens."

September 24, 2012 Mayor Michael Hancock formally endorsed the establishment of the Denver Police Law Enforcement Museum as critical to preserving the Denver Police Departments more than 150 years for future generations. The museum through authentic interactive displays will provide future generations of young people a fascinating glimpse in to history and encourage their interest in pursuing law enforcement careers.

Mission

We promote social impact by building bridges between citizens and the law enforcement of Denver, creating opportunities for community understanding and engagement, strengthening the city's relationship with the community, and educating youth to inspire community involvement, responsibility, and a future generation of law enforcement professionals.

Background Statement

The Denver Police Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2008. The organization has strived since its inception to facilitate positive interaction with the community and preserve the historical record of Denver Law Enforcement. This historical record includes all of the positive and shortcomings that occurred throughout the history of Denver. Our efforts have also been focused on the future. We have and plan to have significant events aimed at encouraging young people to look at a career in law enforcement. We have also held events to thank and recognize current and former officers for their service to the citizens of Denver. We have built a significant collection of oral histories by various officers of all backgrounds to save stories that would otherwise be lost when officers die.
