Mission

AUL's mission is to provide a comprehensive and quality high school education for students who come from uncertain living conditions.

Background Statement

Founded in 2005 to address Colorado's exploding at-risk student population, The AUL is a 501c3 DPS charter high school. Now in its seventh year of operation, AUL has more than quadrupled its graduating class since its founding, and has established itself as a champion of underserved youth determined to pursue scholastic success. Since our initial charter was granted in 2005, AUL has served nearly a thousand at-risk students. More than 90% of our students are minorities and struggle to live at or below the poverty level, many holding down jobs while trying to complete high school. A quarter of our students live alone or are homeless. Another 25% have special education needs. One in five are teenage parents. Despite these obstacles, our students are determined and commited to graduating with a high school diploma, and creating a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
