Louise Marie von Dedenroth-Dendinger lived a life as large as her name. Affectionately known as Weezie, Lou, and Ami she was imbued with infectious positivity, a surplus of energy, and the ability to make and steal friends wherever she went.

Louise was first introduced to skiing at Mt. Lemmon while attending the University of Arizona in the late 40's/early 50's. After graduating with a degree in Physical Education in 1952, Louise worked as a secretary for the United States Army in Heidelberg, Germany where she often traded her shorthand for long skis. Louise introduced her 6 kids and their many friends to the snowplow and parallel turn on the slopes of Mt. Lemon and later Holiday Hill in the mountains outside Los Angeles. She served as a National Ski patroller during the 1970s and found a second home in the Vail Valley after her daughter Lulu and nearly every one of her kids moved to the area. Louise passed away at 91 after approximately 70 years on the slopes.

Louise's legacy and love for skiing lives on through your support of SOS Outreach. SOS provides powerful outdoor experiences and mentor based programming that builds character and leadership for youth who need it most. Since 1993, SOS has provided over 80,000 youth across the country the support and access to experience the joy of skiing and snowboarding. This year, nearly 500 kids from Eagle County will learn to ski and snowboard and develop courage, discipline, and a sense of belonging with SOS. Your support makes this possible.
