Habitat for Humanity of Teller County

A nonprofit organization

Help us bring nine families in our community HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.

This year, we need your help bringing our homeowners HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS! We are hoping to have all the new Habitat homeowners in their new, permanent homes by Christmas. Your generous donation keeps the construction process on schedule. Please help us make their holidays extra special!

Testimonials

Habitat for Humanity of Teller County is blessed to work with so many wonderful people!

Gail Wingerd has been a volunteer with Habitat for over ten years, in addition to running her own small business here in Woodland Park! With housing prices on the rise, and her current housing situation uncertain, she is a perfect partner finally to receive a home of her own.

Jessica Layton and her three children are excited to start a new chapter of their lives here in Woodland Park, surrounded by her father, a pastor at the Woodland Park Community Church, and a congregation of caring neighbors.

Monica Sanchez is the epitome of hard work. She works full time in Teller County Social Services, and works on the weekends at Remaxx, AND manages to put in her volunteer hours on the construction site. Monica and her children are happy to be working toward a safe and happy home in Woodland Park.

Mission

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

Background Statement

Habitat for Humanity was established in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller. The Fullers wanted to address poverty housing on a global scale through "partnership housing". The Fullers' concept of partnership housing centers on those in need of adequate shelter working side-by-side with volunteers to build simple, decent houses. Habitat's philosophy no profit and no or low interest financing makes our building concept very affordable. And the "Fund for Humanity" (homeowner mortgage payments, no/low interest loans and fundraising dollars) provides the capital needed to continuously build in our community.

Habitat for Humanity of Teller County was established in 1999 by a group of passionate volunteers. These volunteers worked tirelessly to fundraise, acquire land, select families, and manage all of the logistics to build the first Habitat homes in our community. Since then, Habitat for Humanity of Teller County has built 31 homes in Florissant, Victor, Cripple Creek, Divide and Woodland Park.
