Dinah Owens Memorial Scholarship

The Blue Knights Family mourns the loss of Dinah Owens who passed away on March 5. Dinah and her husband Del have been long time volunteers, dedicating untold hours to the benefit of the kids in both our percussion ensemble and drum and bugle corps.

Our deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers go out to Del in this time for the loss of his soulmate.

Dinah and Del's "kids" are those who join the Ascend programs: Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps and the Blue Knights World Percussion Ensemble. Dinah was a great advocate of making each member and their families a part of the Blue Knights. She reached out to make members feel welcome, developing awareness of resources available and was very generous in giving out "Atta boy or girls!" Dinah served on the Booster Club Board of Directors, Drums Along the Rockies Planning Committee, and was very instrumental in making Ascend Performing Art's Souvenir Program a success through her adage: "The customer is always right". She communicated the importance of good customer service to those selling souvenirs because she felt that this was a great opportunity to sell the organization. In addition to good customer service, Dinah made sure that each aspect of the souvenir program communicated professionalism and that every question about the programs from those involved or the public was answered.

Needless to say, Dinah will be greatly missed. In her memory, the Blue Knights family has established a scholarship fund with the hopes of distributing 2 scholarships -1 each for a current member of the 2014 drum corps and percussion ensemble.
