Community Partnership for Child Development

A nonprofit organization

CPCD's mission is to prepare children for success in school and in life by providing excellent comprehensive early childhood services, in partnership with diverse families and the community.

Testimonials

CPCD isn't just concerned about the children in the classroom Mon-Fri. They believe a child's success is also dependent on the family structure. So their family advocacy programs and free parenting or family related classes serve to strengthen the family unit. And when the family is strong, supported, and stable, it builds a stronger community. But it all started with one child in the program. -Ruth B.

I absolutely love this program. Whenever I meet parents, the first thing I ask is if their children are in school. If they say no, the first thing I do is mention CPCD. I explain how this program has served my family; from the education to the CAMP (Calling All Men who Parent) events, my whole family has been positively impacted. From the level of care and attention each student receives from the faculty to grow, to the people I have met, CPCD has been a huge element of the last school year for my family. The staff cares, the educational curriculum is great, and the program is one where you can see the development in your child. -Chloe E.

Background Statement

Founded in 1987, CPCD was spun-off from Catholic Charities to manage the growing Head Start program in El Paso County. At the inception of the local program, CPCD was funded to serve nearly 300 four-year-old children in one program.

We now reach nearly seven times that number -- just under 1,400 children and their families -- in three core programs. The Head Start and Colorado Preschool Programs serve preschool-aged children and their families, and the Early Head Start program serves expectant mothers, infants, toddlers and their families.

Today, we have 365 employees and operate over 55 classrooms in El Paso County. Both of these numbers may increase as we continue our ongoing expansion to serve more children and families who need us.
