Your Community Reproductive & Sexual Health Clinic

Why we need your help

In the summer of 2022 we watched the Supreme Court overturn 50 years of reproductive freedom with the Dobbs decision. The cascade of events following the fall of Roe v Wade confirmed our worst fears as states across the US began restricdting and some fully banning abortion. Immediately we saw an increase in demand for our services and we have responded by expanding our capacity, especially to serve out-of-state patients. Because of our supporters we provide high-quality, patient-centered sexual and reproductive services including birth control, confidential teen services, comprehensive sex education, gender affirming hormone therapy and specialized gynecological care.

Now more than ever, our patients need to know there are people who care about them, respect their identities and don't condemn their decisions. And most importantly, we must provide services regardless of their ability to pay. Thank you for considering a generous gift to support our work!

Gratitude from our patients

"Dear INCREDIBLE staff at Boulder Valley Women's Health Center,
I want to say thank you for your AMAZING support and service when I came in for a procedure last week. It could have been a very overwhelming and scary process, but your staff put me at ease as soon as I arrived and made me feel like I wasn't alone. From the kind receptionist to the counselors and the nurses to the doctor to the volunteers in the recovery room- everyone had a calming sense about them that made this situation bearable. I can't thank or commend your practice enough for the unbelievable professionalism and patience each member of your staff demonstrated. I would not hesitate to highly recommend you to all women in Colorado. Thank you for everything!
Warmly,
An ever-grateful patient" Thank you card from a WH patient, recieved in December 2016

"To all the AMAZING staff at BVWHC,
As I sat down to write my graduation thank you cards, I was thinking about the people who have impacted my life. Of course, all of you popped into my head first. The work you all do has inspired me to stand up for what I think is important and treat every person with love and kindess. All of you have given me the voice I needed, and I am endlessly grateful. If one day I have the opportunity to impact someone's life the way you have impacted mine, I will know I lived my life to the fullest. Thanks again for all you do and helping me find my passion for sexual health. I know it is going to take me far.
Love you all!
-Forever SHAPEr, Ali"

"Since I moved to Boulder I've been getting all my reproductive health care here. The first time was shocking because, compared to how I have been treated as a patient in the past in various places in Denver, I felt like this place was staffed entirely by angels. The all-female staff is comprised of individuals who are nice, caring and competent. The facilities are beautiful and relaxing. I always feel like these people will take great care of me and be on my side. Thank you for your kind and compassionate service!"

"This place changed my life! I identify as a FTM Trans* person, and I started my hormone therapy at Boulder Valley Women's Health. The process was simple, the environment was affirming, and most of the information you'll need to become a trans* patient is all laid out on a specific page on their website. I recommend this place to any trans* identified person seeking a positive and safe environment to either start or continue there transition experience. This isn't exclusively a women's health care center only... this place includes and affirms all aspects of reproductive health care for all people, and I highly recommend it!"

Background Statement

IT ALL STARTED IN 1973

In 1973, a group of local Boulder Valley citizens founded the non-profit health center Boulder Valley Clinic to assure access to counseling and abortion services following the 1973 Supreme Court's Roe v Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide. Over the following years the clinic expanded its reproductive and sexual health services and in 1987, the clinic moved to its current location on Valmont Road as the Boulder Valley Women's Health Center. Over the last decade, best practices in reproductive and sexual health care were transformed by the Reproductive Justice Movement which moves beyond the focus on women's health and rights and asserts that all people deserve to have the power and resources necessary to make health decisions about their gender, bodies, sexuality, and families for themselves and their communities. Our new name and logo, Boulder Valley Health Center, was adopted in our 50th year (2023) and reflects our commitment-as advocates, community leaders, clinical experts, and educators-to creating a nonprofit organization that is inclusive and welcoming to everyone.
